FAQs

Ask a Question
Can I see a doctor now?
Yes. There are always doctors available during opening hours. We provide a walk-in service for any acute Accident & Medical conditions, no appointment are necessary for this service. The centre provides all General Practice plus Accident & Medical care under the same roof.

I’m visiting Hawke’s Bay and require further medication. Do you have a doctor who can write me another prescription?
You will need to be seen by one of our doctors servicing the walk-in service or book an appointment for another prescription to be written. This will incur a consultation fee and your notes will be forwarded to your own General Practitioner.

Can I enroll with a doctor?
Yes we have doctors taking new patients. You will need to complete an enrolment form and one of the receptionists will be able to advise you as to the Doctors taking on more patients and will answer any questions you may have about the centre.

I would like to enroll with a female doctor – can I do this?
Yes. When you complete your enrolment form at The Doctors Hastings, the reception staff will inform you which female doctor is available for new enrollments.

How will my previous medical records be transferred here?
After filling out and signing the enrolment form you will be given a letter to sign authorizing your permission for The Doctors Hastings to obtain your medical records from your previous practice, whether locally or in another part of the country. We will arrange to have these records forwarded to us. Once we have received these a welcome pack from The Doctors Hastings will be sent to you.

Can I get a prescription filled at The Doctors Hastings if it is from another practice?
Radius Pharmacy staff, directly next door, will be able to assist you with this.

Where do I go for a blood test or X-ray?
The majority of blood tests are done on-site by one of our trained nurses. X-ray facility is also on site – no appointment is required for either blood test or x-ray provided you have the appropriate request form. The X-ray department is open 9:00am – 5:30pm (closed for lunch 12:30pm – 13:30pm) Monday – Friday and open 12:30pm – 4:00pm at weekends.
